Character Animation Finished

So I’m not great at posting … partly because only about 2 people check the site, one of which is probably my partner … but also because about a year ago we found out we had been denied the EPIC Mega Grant after being in communication with their team for a few months. That hit us pretty hard, and meant everything was going to take much longer to do since we couldn’t hire additional help.

But as of last week, all character and creature animation has been finished!

This month will see many fixes and tweaks, especially in terms of the viewer experience. There will be a major effort towards making the film as performant as possible. Currently there are sections that run a bit slowly.

Sound

The only other major work to do is implementing sound

NoiseFloor, LTD, in Chicago has been hard at work doing all foley for the film as well as the majority of the sound design.

In house at Electric Beard Studios, I’ll be programming the dynamic audio for things like the shuttle engines – adjusting the way the sounds (designed at NoiseFloor) are blending together, as well as adding dynamic pitch and volume control when the ship is speeding up and slowing down.

It’s all about immersion!

When the ship audio is taken care of, each foley asset will be linked to the animation assets manually.

The final sounds to be designed are creature sounds, which currently have placeholders that have been in there for months! It’s going to be exciting to hear the ACTUAL sounds for everything!
